The Layout Tab allows Admins to select the display of navigation and turn off multiple specific elements of a website. Through the Admin Tab an HLAdmin can disable the use of all the controls on this page, effectively locking the navigation structure in place for a Microsite.
Consider the options presented by the Layout Tab through testing. Explore the various settings, optimally in a non-public-facing website or during the pre-launch process.
In the Bootstrap/R2 code base admins will see three options for setting the baseline maximum width of all pages (content will respond to optimally fill the browser at widths smaller than the maximum). The Site Frame options are FULL (100% of browser width) WIDE (1200px maxium width) and NARROW (984px maximum width). Note that the Mixed Layout 2 and Mixed Layout 1 Page Layouts selectable on the Edit Navigation page contain layout areas that render to 100% of the browser width. The 100% width will only be achieved with a Site Frame setting of FULL.
Main Menu Bar Type
The Main Menu Bar is underneath the site banner at page top. It allows access to the pages of your site. The settings here allow you to choose your main navigation presentation and select the display of secondary/tertiary navigation. Sites on the Bootstrap/R2 codebase will see options for "sticky" navigation - these choices allow the navigation to continue to display at browser top when users scroll on long pages.
Interior Side Menu Type
On the R1/non-responsive code base admins can configure or turn off the left-side menu appearing on all pages but Home. The use of a Mega Menu for the Main Menu Bar generally makes an interior left-side menu redundant. Auxiliary side menus are not supported for Bootstrap/R2 sites as they are sub-optimal at mobile widths.
Content Items from another webpage can be displayed at page left. The functionality is very similar to Syndication: the desired page is selected from a drop-down menu and it is often necessary to build a dedicated hidden page to meet the needs of content displayed in this way.
The traditional one-line footer can be selected here, along with footer options that replicate the navigation in part or in whole. The page footer can also be disabled.
Similar to "Side Content" explained above, Content Items from another webpage can be displayed at page left. The desired page is selected from a drop-down menu and it is often necessary to build a dedicated hidden page to meet the needs of content displayed in this way.
|The Welcome Box will be turned off for all pages of the microsite by selecting the "no" option. Areas of the Welcome box can also be disabled here. Admins can also establish the text of the text link prompting login to unauthenticated users.|
The site search box will not appear at far right of the Main Menu Bar if the "no" option is selected. This will not disable search on the Microsite
