Tagging

Tags and Tag Groups

Tags continue to exist within Tag Groups.  Tag groups consist of one or more tags. Tags within a Tag group are presented in a defined area to user when applying tags. Admins can order the tags within a tag group, transfer tags from one Tag Group to another, delete tags, and create tags.

Content and Tagging

The following kind of content can have tags applied to them:

  • Library Entries
  • Glossary Entries
  • Blogs
  • Volunteer Opportunities
  • Events (requires configuration - see Tags for Events)

Content Areas and Tagging

The following can have tags applied to them:

  • Communities (established/displayed on community websites and community landing pages)
  • Stand-alone Libraries

User Experience and Tagging Rights

The process for applying tags to content is the same for all users regardless of Global Admin, Community Admin, or user status.  However, tagging rights are granted based on the user’s relationship with the tagged content in question, as follows:

  • Global Admin – Universal access to modify all tags across all content types
  • Community Admin – Access to modify all tags of content within the communities managed.
  • User (member or nonmember) – Access to all tags of all content created or owned by the user. Tags can be applied by users on the content they create.

User Created Tags

A Tag Group for tags that can be applied by any user is, by default, available to all clients. This "User Created" Tag group can be the basis for non-Admin tagging.  With User Created Tags inactive, only content creators and Admins can apply tags to content.

Accessing the Tagging Admin Areas

Only Super Admins can access the Tag Groups Admin Page via the connected community admin site.  The tagging admin pages are accessible to Global Administrators from any website by clicking Admin and then hovering over “Tagging” at the bottom of the left-side navigation to expose the Manage Tag Groups link.

Tagging Admin Areas

Only Universal Admins can access the admin control areas for creating tag groups, creating tags, and managing tags. Admin areas include Tag Groups Admin Page (the access point for all tagging admin pages), Tag Setup Pages, and Tag Reports Pages.
