If you're using a third-party vendor to provide the cookie banner for your Higher Logic community, you should periodically run a cookie scan to ensure that your use of cookies complies with Higher Logic's associated policy, as well as other, relevant cookie-use policies.
- You can perform a cookie scan of your Higher Logic community by using your third-party vendor's cookie-scanning tool.
TIP: Define a cookie-scanning cadence (e.g., bi-weekly, monthly) that best suits your community. It's also recommended that you perform a cookie scan after making changes to your community.
- A scan will typically find, identify, and classify all of the cookies that are being used in your community.
Higher Logic's Acceptable Use Policy
Refer to section 18 of Higher Logic's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) which forbids:
“Overwhelming or attempting to overwhelm our infrastructure by imposing an unreasonably large load on Service Provider’s or its third-party providers’ systems that consume extraordinary resources (CPUs, memory, disk space, bandwidth,), such as:
- Using “robots,” “spiders,” “offline readers,” or other automated systems to send more request messages to our servers than a human could reasonably send in the same period by using a normal browser.
- Going far beyond the use parameters for any given Software Service as described in its corresponding documentation.“
Cookie scan request notes
- Cookie scans that request more than one page per six seconds might be blocked.
- Cookie scans that request more than 10 pages per minute might be blocked.
- Cookie scans that exceed one request per second are a violation of Higher Logic's AUP.
NOTE: If your scan adheres to these restrictions and is still blocked, create a case with Higher Logic Support.
