You can reindex content items when expected content is not displaying somewhere in your site.
EXAMPLE: A new discussion post is not displaying in your Activity Feed and All Content List widgets.
What is reindexing?
Reindexing is simply "refreshing" the content, similar to reloading a page in a web browser.
Who can reindex content?
The Reindex option displays only to:
- Super Admins
- Community Admins
NOTE: Community Admins cannot reindex Ideas because Ideas cannot be associated to a Community.
The Reindex option does not display to:
- Site Admins (because they do not have the ability to manage content items)
- Non-admin community members
Reindexing alternative
If:
- instead of reindexing the content yourself, you prefer that Higher Logic does it
or...
- you have questions or concerns about why content is not displaying
...then, we encourage you to create a case with Higher Logic Support and request assistance.
How do I reindex content?
You can reindex single content items individually (i.e., there's no "bulk" reindexing) by clicking Reindex in the content item's dropdown, as shown in the following examples.
Reindex an Event
Reindex a Library Entry
Reindex a Question
...and its Answer
TIP: If you reindex a content item and the content still does not display, create a case with Higher Logic Support.
What happens next?
When you click Reindex:
- a message indicates that the content item has been added to the queue and that you might have to wait while it is processed, and
- the content is sent to the reindexing queue, where it will be processed and reindexed.
What content can be reindexed?
The following content items can be reindexed.
- Announcements
- Blog posts
- Discussion posts
- Discussion post replies
- Events
- Ideas
- Library Entry Details page
- Library Entries widget
- Question posts
- Answers to Questions
- Volunteer Opportunities
