Clients using Promotional Mailing Types in netFORUM can sync recipient subscription data to netFORUM from Higher Logic Thrive Marketing Enterprise (Thrive Marketing Enterprise). This is a one-way transmission from Thrive Marketing Enterprise to netFORUM. While subscription activity can be managed explicitly within Thrive Marketing Enterprise or within netFORUM’s eWeb page, it is generally recommended that Thrive Marketing Enterprise remains the database of record for your subscription activity. If it is the latter, subscriptions are not managed in Thrive Marketing Enterprise and there would need to be a custom netFORUM link appended to message templates.
The following subscription types can be mapped back to netFORUM:
- Unsubscribe to Group Categories or Group
- Unsubscribe to Message Categories
This article describes the different types of subscription activity that can be written back to netFORUM via the co_messaging_activity table.
Updating Individual Record Preferences
Typically, Thrive Marketing Enterprise is the database of record when it comes to maintaining a recipient’s subscription preference. Recipient subscription preferences are managed by:
- Users logging into Thrive Marketing Enterprise and manually changing their preference
- A recipient clicking an unsubscribe link
- Via a subscription management page hosted by Thrive Marketing Enterprise
If a recipient needs to subscribe or unsubscribe, we recommend following any of the steps above.
Subscription Activity Transmitted to netFORUM
Below are the workflows per unsubscribe setting in the netFORUM Thrive Marketing Enterprise integration. Tracking information will display in an integrated product provided the following conditions are met:
- In Thrive Marketing Enterprise, Subscribe and Unsubscribe tracking is enabled in Settings > Integrations > netFORUM Management.
- The recipient in Thrive Marketing Enterprise has a Primary Key in the Custom Member ID field.
When checking the tracking log in Settings > Integrations > netFORUM Management, note the following:
- Records with a non-matching Custom Member ID to netFORUM will fail and subsequently not add additional records to the Thrive Marketing Enterprise tracking area OR update the Promotional Mailing Types.
- Tracking will push back on a scheduled basis to netFORUM once daily.
Thrive Marketing Enterprise Subscription Activity as Activity Records
In this configuration, the following details in the co_messaging_activity table will not update unless the following conditions are met:
- Subscribe and Unsubscribe tracking is enabled in Settings > Integrations > netFORUM Management.
- The recipient in Thrive Marketing Enterprise has a valid Primary Key in the Custom Member ID field.
Thrive Marketing Enterprise Subscription Activity as Mailing Activity in netFORUM
In this configuration, the Promotional Mailing Type flag will not update unless the following conditions are met:
- Subscribe and Unsubscribe tracking is enabled in Settings > Integrations > netFORUM Management.
- The Manage Unsubscribe section has been configured. Refer to the Thrive Marketing Enterprise Data in netFORUM > Thrive Marketing Enterprise Unsubscribe Information section of the netFORUM Integration Guide for more information.
- The recipient in Thrive Marketing Enterprise has a valid Integration ID in the Custom Member ID field.
