The Higher Logic Thrive Marketing Professional (Thrive Marketing Professional) for Higher Logic Thrive Community (Thrive Community) integration makes it easy for you to use Thrive Marketing Professional to send targeted messages to community members based on their activity within the community. When you send targeted messages to your members, your Thrive Community engagement increases because members are more likely to engage with content that is relevant to them and their interests.
Benefits of the integration
Managing an online community is a considerable investment and commitment for your organization. You can use the integration with Thrive Marketing Professional to get the most out of your community.
Campaigns
Thrive Marketing Professional campaigns help you to maximize your time and resources because they enable you to automate some of your administrative tasks and they do not require any ongoing efforts.
- Welcome Campaigns - New community members are introduced into the community in a timely and consistent way through automated welcome campaigns.
- Nurture Campaigns - By acknowledging positive contributions among your community members, you foster ongoing participation and work to rapidly expand the community via nurture campaigns.
- Behavior-specific Campaigns - Best practices, such as having professional profiles and photos, are encouraged through behavior-specific campaigns.
Activity data
Aside from campaigns, you can leverage data from your community to gain insight into your members' levels of engagement and participation. Through this data, you can:
- Include community behaviors in the development of Thrive Marketing Professional engagement scores.
- Analyze mailing activity reports with filters for community members.
- Create more focused subject lines for your mailings, based on community activities.
- Send targeted stories in mailings, based on activity in the community.
- Reengage inactive community members through re-engagement mailings.
Syncing List Builder lists
This integration uses List Builder in Thrive Community to create Custom User Lists of member email addresses. Upon a sync operation, these lists are pulled into Thrive Marketing Professional as target groups that can be used anywhere within Thrive Marketing Professional (mailings, campaigns, compound target groups).
Learn how to build Custom User Lists in List Builder.
NOTE: Syncing for the integration is based on the Legacy Contact Key in the community, which corresponds to Remote ID in Thrive Marketing Professional. If a contact does not exist in Thrive Marketing Professional, the integration automatically creates a record in Thrive Marketing Professional and uses the Legacy Contact Key as the Remote ID.
List considerations
There are a few things to consider before creating a Custom User List (list).
- Only Super Admins can create lists. If you need Super Admin privileges, contact your Higher Logic Community account administrator.
- Lists can include multiple criteria; take some time to analyze the behavior you are trying to identify. Think through these criteria to understand how they factor into your goal.
- Lists become target groups in Thrive Marketing Professional. Keep this in mind when you name them and use names that you'll easily recognize.
- Each list must begin with the text Informz so that the integration can more easily differentiate between lists that are intended for Thrive Marketing Professional and those intended for other reasons.
Create a Custom User List
To create a Custom User List in Thrive Community:
- In the Admin Toolbar, click Admin.
- Navigate to Users > List Builder.
- Select Custom User List from the dropdown.
See the section Create a Custom User List, in List Builder, for information on specifying the list criteria to create simple or complex lists.
Avoid duplicate mailings
If your community has automation rules that send mailings to your community members, do not use the same rules to send similar mailings from Thrive Marketing Professional. If you send mailings from both platforms, you run the risk duplicating your content, which could harm your sender reputation.
However, if your Higher Logic automation rules do not send any mailings (or sends different messages), you can use the data from your community to create new target groups in Thrive Marketing Professional.
Troubleshooting
Here you'll find troubleshooting questions for two problems that might occur with your integration. If you run into issues with your integration, review these questions first, they'll help diagnose your issue and might even guide you to a solution.
Lists are not appearing in Thrive Marketing Professional
If a list that you created does not appear in Thrive Marketing Professional, use these questions to guide your troubleshooting.
- Does the list name begin with the text Informz?
- Did you click Refresh Target Group List in Thrive Marketing Professional to force a refresh?
- Are you looking in the correct target group folder (Online Community)?
Subscriber counts are different in Thrive Marketing Professional and Thrive Community
If your subscriber counts don't match, use these questions to guide your troubleshooting.
- Are the members unsubscribed, as subscribers, in Thrive Marketing Professional?
- Does the member have a malformed ("bad") email address? (e.g., admin@@iamap.org; note the two "@" symbols)
- Are there duplicate email addresses in Thrive Community?
If your answers to the questions above don't help you with a solution, create a case.
