The Image Manager allows you to store, organize, manage, and edit the images you include in your messages.
To access the Image Manager:
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Messages > Assets > Images.
Manage images
On the Select image page, you can see a list of all your image folders. Use the plus (+) and minus (–) symbols to open and close the folders, and use the scroll bar to navigate up and down through the folder hierarchy. When you click a folder, its sub-folders and images display on the right.
NOTE: Folders display alphabetically in the "tree structure." Sub-folders and images display chronologically in the "contents" panel.
Use this page to manage your image folders and files. You can create custom folders to organize your images, making them easy to find and work with.
TIP: Right click a folder to rename or delete it.
Management actions
When viewing the images in a folder, you can perform the following actions (discussed from left to right):
Option | Function |
---|---|
Add | Click to add a sub-folder to this folder or to upload an image from your device. While the Stock Photo option is available, you can only add one of our stock photos while editing a message.
NOTE: Image files cannot exceed 5MB. Supported file types are .bmp, .jpg, .png, and .gif. |
Move | Select an image and click this to move the image file to another folder. In the hierarchy dialog, choose a folder and then click Select. If you move or rename an image file, the file's existing association with messages will remain intact. |
Copy | Select an image and click this to copy an image. This instantly makes a copy of the image, appended with (1), in this folder. Click Rename to rename the image. |
Edit | Select an image and click this menu to choose the Basic Editor or the Advanced Editor. Refer to Edit images below. |
Preview | Select an image and click this to see a quick preview of the image. Click the X to close the preview. |
Delete | Select an image and click this to delete an image. Click Delete to confirm. Deleted images will not be available for future messages, but their association with existing messages that reference them will remain intact. |
Rename | Select an image and click this to rename an image. Click Save to confirm. If you move or rename an image file, the file's existing association with messages will remain intact. |
URL | Select an image and click this to view its URL. The image's URL is automatically copied to your clipboard for easy pasting in a message. |
Details | Select an image and click this to see details about the image. The information is the same as what's displayed in the List View but also includes the image's dimensions. |
View Toggle | The default view is the file List View (the file name, creator, date, and size). Click this to toggle to the Grid View, which displays thumbnails of the images. |
Edit images
The Image Manager includes two image editors, one basic and one advanced. You can use these editors to change the appearance of the images that you include in your messages. Even if you don't have any graphic design or image-editing experience, with a little practice, you'll be able to modify and customize images to add a professional quality to your email messages.
Both image editors let you customize your uploaded images so that they promote your "brand" with the personalized look that you want. You can make rudimentary customizations with the Basic Editor, but we recommend that only experienced users use the Advanced Editor to modify images.
After selecting an image, select the desired editor from the Edit menu:
Basic image editing
When you choose the basic option, the editor opens with the image on the canvas. You can move the image and the crop-area frame independently by clicking and dragging it around the canvas. You can also "grab" the handles of the crop area frame to re-size it.
As its name suggests, the Basic Editor is not intended for high-level image-editing exercises. It offers functionality with which you can perform the following edits.
Option | Function |
---|---|
Crop Area Size | Use the up and down arrows to change the height and width values or click in the field and type the values you want. Click the lock icon to lock the height-to-width aspect ratio. |
Zoom | Click the icons to make the image larger (zoom in) and smaller (zoom out).
NOTE: "Zooming" does not alter the size of the image; it simply changes your perspective of it. Think of it as walking closer to (zoom in) the image and then backing away (zoom out). |
Nudge | Use these icons to move the image up, down, left, and right in small increments to fine tune its placement. |
Rotate | Click the icons to rotate the image (clockwise or counter-clockwise) in 90-degree increments. |
Flip | Use these icons to flip the image to a vertical or horizontal mirror image. |
Fit Image to Crop Area | If you've re-sized the crop area to the dimensions that you want for your message, click this to have the image automatically adjust to fit. |
Start Over | Use this option to discard all changes that you've made and restore the image to the state that it was in when you opened it. |
- To save your changes, click Save; otherwise, click Cancel.
Advanced Image Editing
See Advanced Image Editor for information on using the Advanced Image Editor to add a professional quality to your email messages.
