Editor options
Once placed, you'll be able to use the WYSIWYG Editor to format your text in a variety of ways, insert images, tables, attachments, and more. A complete breakdown of each option is provided below (discussed from left to right).
Button | Description |
---|---|
Cut | Cut any text you’ve already entered or any of the “lorem ipsum” placeholder text that appears when you add a WYSIWYG text block. |
Copy | Any of the content you create within a text block can be copied and pasted into additional text blocks. |
Paste | Text that you've cut or copied from one text block can be easily pasted into another text block. |
Paste as Plain Text | When pasting text from outside of the WYSIWYG Editor, either from a plain text document or a Word document, choose this option to paste the text without any native formatting included. |
Paste as Word Doc |
When pasting copy from a Word document, use this tool to paste text and keep your Word formatting such as bold, italic, bullets, indents, etc. Note that not all Word styles will appear exactly as they did in Word due to translation limitations (some Word formats cannot be transferred). Most text will retain the Word formatting which have been converted using proper HTML coding. NOTE: It's not possible to strip out all MS Word coding when using this feature, and some Word tags may cause deliverability issues. We suggest pasting your copy as plain text and formatting it using the WYSIWYG editor. |
Undo | Undo text edits performed during the current editing session. |
Redo | Redo action(s) you've made using the Undo button during the current editing session. |
Anchor Text |
Add an anchor to your text block so you can link to that specific text block from other places in your email. This is perfect for when you want to do a table of contents at the top of your email and link to text sections further down in the email body. NOTE: Anchor links do not work in all versions of Outlook and other email clients. |
Delete Link | Enables you to remove any links in your text. Simply highlight the text that includes the hyperlink and click this to remove it. |
Insert Link |
Transform any text into a hyperlink by highlighting it and clicking this button. In the pop-up, configure the link with the following options:
|
Number List | Transforms highlighted text into a numbered list. |
Bullet List | Transforms highlighted text into a bulleted list. |
Horizontal Line |
Adds a horizontal line where your cursor is positioned. Adding lines at the top and bottom of text is a great way to visually chunk blocks of text. This adds an <hr> tag to the source HTML coding, which is a standard horizontal line tag that will render as a black line that is approximately 1 to 2 pixels in most browsers. |
Special Character | Allows you to select from one of hundreds of additional text characters. HTML codes for each special character will be added to the source code so the characters will render correctly in browsers without the need for additional font coding. |
Insert Table | Inserts a customizable table where your cursor is positioned. This is a great way to present information that would benefit from being formatted in rows and columns. |
Insert Image |
Click this button to add, edit, and format an image that will be placed directly into your text block. This works well if you have text that needs to wrap around an image. NOTE: Use the Image zone if you want to create a self-contained image zone in your message. |
Insert Personalized Field | Add a standard or custom mail-merge field that will automatically be personalized when the email is sent. For example, if you add the First Name standard field, it'll automatically transform into each recipient's first name, pulled from their profile. |
Insert Dynamic Content |
NOTE: This button is not available in the new Message Editor interface, as Dynamic Content is completely created and managed via Dynamic Content zones in the new interface. This button will be deprecated in the future. Enables you to insert any Dynamic Content blocks you've set up for use in your email campaigns. This Dynamic Content will automatically be inserted into your message when your email is sent. See Dynamic Content for more information about creating Dynamic Content. |
Insert Survey | Allows you to add a link to any surveys you've created using Communications Enterprise's Survey module. |
Insert Event | Allows you to add a link to any events you've created using Communications Enterprise's Event module. |
Insert Share Link (SWYN) | Adds buttons to various social media sites allowing recipients to share your content within their social media networks. |
Edit Source HTML | Click this to view your content as HTML. This enables easier HTML editing and pasting of HTML into your messages. |
Spell Check as you Type | Click this to enable spell check. Misspelled words are highlighted red, making them easier to detect as you write your messages. |
Change Font | Changes the highlighted text's font family. |
Change Font Size | Changes the highlighted text's font size (up to 72pt). |
Align Left/Center/Right | Aligns the highlighted text to the left, center, or right within the text block. |
