By configuring Domain Lists and Profiles, you can pass parameters to Google Analytics so you can track the traffic sources coming to your site when recipients click links in your messages.
NOTE: This article assumes you possess a working knowledge of Google Analytics and its associated functionality and terminology.
By setting up Domain Lists and Profiles on this page, they'll be applicable when inserting URL links in your messages, as shown below:
Domain Lists and Profiles
At a high level:
- A Domain List allows you to create a mapping between a domain, or series of domains, and a Profile.
- A Profile is a mapping of UTM parameters and their values. Profiles can be applied to Domain Lists or manually selected in a message. You can create various Profiles to support your organization’s tracking use-cases for your specific domain(s).
To manage your Domain Lists and Profiles:
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Messages > Analytics > Google Analytics.
Manage Domain Lists
To manage the Domain Lists in your account, click the down arrow to the right of the page title and select Domain Lists (this is the default list, so you may already be viewing it).
Create a Domain List
- Click the plus sign to the right of the page title.
- In the dialog:
- Specify a name for the new Domain List.
- Click Add to add a domain name or a specific link. Repeat this step to add as many domains as needed for this list.
- If you want to apply a Profile to this Domain List, select it from the Profile menu.
NOTE: All Profiles created on the Profiles List are available in this menu. If you apply a Profile, the Auto Apply option will appear. Check the box to have the Profile automatically applied to the Domain List. What does this mean? When creating a message and a domain from the Domain List is entered, the Profile will automatically be applied (and not be editable) to the message. This feature enables you to force the application of specific Profiles to specific domains.
- Click Save to add the Domain List.
