Knowing the "who," "what," "where," "when," "why," and "how" of your mailings can sometimes be a challenge. This is part of why the Mailing Activity Report (MAR) exists. In fact, if you check out the Email Client Type report, you'll dive into one less-than-obvious type of "where" - where are your subscribers opening their mailings?
The Email Client Type report shows which email clients (mobile devices, web-based email clients, desktop software) were used to open a mailing and a small pop up displays the percentage and total count of opens.
View email client type data
- Navigate to Mailings > View > Sent tab.
- Hover over the Menu icon for a mailing and click Report.
- Navigate to the Details tab > Opens > Email Client Type.
Here, you'll see a pie chart that displays the different email clients (mobile devices, web-based email clients, desktop software) that your subscribers used to open your mailing. As you hover on each segment, a small pop up displays the percentage and total count of opens.
- To download the pie chart, click the Menu icon in the upper right corner and select from the download options.
How it works...
You may be wondering how Communications Professional determines the type of email client.
Well, there are some cool behind-the-scenes operations that allow Communications Professional to register a mailing as "opened" and to determine the device type. These involve a tiny "tracking image" in the mailing that is pulled by email clients when they establish a connection with Communications Professional.
