You can place ads in several strategic locations across your site. Where you can place an ad is based on its type; there are two available types:

• Discussion Ad
• Website Ad

NOTE: To create and manage ads that display on the Discussions pages of your communities and in their associated email messages, see Discussion Ads.

NOTE: If you license the Group Manager module, your Community Admins can manage ads in their communities via the Community Ad Builder widget (after a Site Admin or Super Admin adds it to a page).

To create and manage your Website Ads:

• In the Admin Toolbar, click Site Options > Ads (right click for a new tab).

Website Ad types

At the top of the page are two tabs; each corresponds to one of the types of ads you can create:

• Site Ads are unique to the site to which they are added, which makes them ideal for having specific ads on specific sites.
• Cross-site Ads display on your main site and all microsites, making them ideal if you have ads you want to run across ALL your sites. Cross-site ads are available only if your organization licenses the Microsites module.

NOTE: Site Admins cannot create Cross-site ads.

Create a Website Ad

1. Click the appropriate tab to create a Site ad or a Cross-site ad.

NOTE: The Cross-site Ads tab displays only if your organization licenses the Microsites module.

2. Click Create New Ad.

3. Select whether to use an uploaded image or a third-party ad service (Rotating Ad Service).

NOTE: If you want to integrate an external ad-management service on this page, create a case.

1. If uploading an image: (a) Select the area of a page to display the ad from the Type of Ad menu (recommended image dimensions for each location are provided), (b) give your ad a name, (c) enter the URL where you want users taken if they click the ad (or leave it blank for a static ad), and (d) click Choose File to browse for the desired image on your computer or network.
2. If using a third-party service: (a) Select the area of a page to display the ad from the Type of Ad menu (recommended image dimensions for each location are provided), (b) give your ad a name, and (c) paste the code provided by the ad service.

4. Determine the ad's order. Ads with a lower number will appear in the more prominent location (above or to the left) relative to other ads with the same Type of Ad location. Your order numbers don't need to be consecutive; the recommended best-practice is to leave gaps between ads so it's easier to fit future ads into an available slot.
5. Click Save to make the ad live on your site at the selected page location.

Delete a Website Ad

The only way to remove an ad from your site is to delete it.

To do so:

1. Toggle its Delete? option to Yes.
2. Click Delete Selected at the bottom of the page.

Where Website Ads display

Website ads can display on either a site's Home page or the site's interior pages (e.g., the All Communities and Member Directory pages). You set the ad's location when you choose an option from the Type of Ad dropdown.

The location options are easy to identify because, right in their names, they:

• start with either "Home" or "Interior" and
• indicate the location (e.g., HomeTop and InteriorWideRight).

The location options also list the recommended maximum dimensions for the location.

Note that:

• Home page-based ads display on the Home page and any pages that have the page code of "home."
  • Any pages that have the page code "memberhome" are treated as "home" and will display ads of this type also.
• Interior page-based ads display on all applicable interior pages of your site.
