Higher Logic recommends that all community users upload a picture to their user profile.
A profile picture lets other community users "put a face to the name." This makes each user more of a real person and less a vague, digital presence. This creates stronger connections within a community, which is especially important with "online" communities in which the members are less likely to meet in person.
TIP: For best results, use a picture that is 200 x 200 pixels at 96 dpi. Images that are larger than this will be automatically re-sized to this and may not display as intended.
Access your profile
Your profile initially uses the default profile image that has been set by an Admin. This is often the "user's initials" avatar that is shown below.
You can access your personal Profile page, as shown below, to easily replace this with your preferred image.
Higher Logic Community
- To access your profile, click your user portal at the top-right, and then click the Profile button.
Higher Logic Thrive Community
- To access your profile, click your user portal at the top-right, and then click Profile in the options menu.
Add a profile image
If you choose to replace the default profile image, it doesn't necessarily have to be with a picture of yourself. You could, instead, add a personal image or avatar.
NOTE: You should, however, always abide by any community regulations as regards what is and what is not acceptable as a profile image.
To add a profile image:
- Under your current profile image, click Actions and then click Change Image.
- On the file-upload dialog, browse for an image on your device or network, or use any of the third-party options.
- When the image is loaded into the image editor, you can crop and rotate the image, and you can reposition the framing of it; then click Save.
- The image displays in the dialog with your "edits" applied; click Upload.
Your selected image now displays in your Profile and your user portal at the top-right.
You can return here and repeat these steps to change or manage your preferred image.
Restore Default Image
After you have added a custom image, you can return to your profile and click the Restore Default Image option (in the Actions dropdown) to easily remove your custom image and restore the default profile image.
