Use the following four steps to construct a campaign in Aptify and generate a target group in Higher Logic Thrive Marketing Professional (Thrive Marketing Professional).
Step 1 - Create a View
An Aptify view is a query that identifies persons in Aptify who become the members in a campaign. These members, in turn, become part of a target group in Thrive Marketing Professional. Let’s look at how to create a Persons View in Aptify.
- Click Customer Management on the left sidebar to expand the menu.
- Click Persons.
- Click the More Actions dropdown list in the upper right of the UI and select Create View.
- The Create View window opens.
Here, you will enter all properties for your view. Begin on the General page and enter a Name for your view. - Click the View Type dropdown list and select List View.
- Use the navigation dropdown list to open the Filters page.
- Click the Plus Sign (+) to create a new filter, and use the provided fields/operators to enter your filter criteria.
- Use the navigation dropdown list to open the Fields page.
Ensure that you select the ID and Primary Email fields. (Thrive Marketing Professional requires these fields for the subsequent target group.) - Click OK to save the view.
Step 2 - Create a Campaign
Aptify campaigns organize your marketing communications. All campaigns are built around segments connected to views that ultimately hold all people (i.e., email addresses) that receive your communications. Before you begin, make sure you have a view in Aptify. Once you do, you'll be ready to create a campaign.
- Click Campaign Management on the left sidebar to expand the menu.
- Click Campaigns.
- Click the New Campaigns in the upper right of the UI.
The New Campaigns Record tab opens. - Enter the following required data (all other fields are optional):
- Name - The campaign’s name.
- Type (field) - The campaign type (e.g., “Marketing”).
- Status - The campaign status. Thrive Marketing Professional requires you to set this to “In-Progress.”
- Coordinator - The campaign’s coordinator (selected from a list of potential coordinators).
- Available for Email (checkbox) - Ensure that this checkbox is checked (it is required for the campaign to be available in Thrive Marketing Professional).
- When complete, click Save and Close.
TIP: While creating a campaign is easy, the best approach to all campaigns is to use a segment in Aptify so that the view/campaign can be updated dynamically.
Step 3 - Create a Campaign Segment
An Aptify campaign segment updates your campaign prospect lists through your views or through pre-defined SQL. It allows prospect lists to dynamically update based on changes to the view results. Let's look at how to create a campaign segment.
- Click Campaign Management on the left sidebar to expand the menu.
- Click Campaigns.
- Use the Search Bar to locate and select your campaign.
A new tab opens with your campaign name. - Use the navigation dropdown list to open the Segments window.
- Click the New Record icon to create a new segment.
- Enter the following required information for the segment:
- Campaign - The associated campaign. This field defaults to the current campaign.
- Name - The segment name.
- Filter Type - Click the dropdown list and select View.
- View (field) - Enter the desired view name.
- When complete, click Save and Close.
Smart Segments
Aptify keeps a list of all segments associated with a campaign within that campaign’s tab. Once you have your view, campaign, and segment ready, you can run the Campaign List Builder Wizard.
Step 4 - Run the Campaign List Builder
The campaign list builder wizard creates/updates prospect lists based on the view associated with the campaign segment. The prospect list is automatically created/updated when the scheduled task runs. Consequently, you don't have to manually run the campaign list builder wizard, but doing so populates the prospect list immediately (rather than waiting for the scheduled task to run).
- Click Campaign Management on the left sidebar to expand the menu.
- Click Campaigns.
- Click All.
- Click the More dropdown list and select Campaign List Builder.
The Campaign List Builder window opens. - Enter the Campaign name and click the dropdown list to select a desired Default Status.
- Click Finish to run the wizard.
The process will ultimately populate the campaign’s subscriber list based on the view associated to the campaign segment. - Click Yes to repeat the process or No to finish on the confirmation pop-up.
Now you'll begin to see target groups in Thrive Marketing Professional based on your campaign lists.
Send a Mailing to a Target Group
Once you have Thrive Marketing Professional target groups created from your Aptify integration, sending a mailing to these groups is a cinch using the Thrive Marketing Professional mailing designer.
Create a Mailing
- Click the To field to open the To Information pop-up.
- Click the Folder dropdown list and select a target group folder.
- Click the Target dropdown list and select a target group.
- Click Update to save your changes.
- The Aptify target group now populates the To field.
