With MemberSuite IPM, all newly created Individuals (Subscribers) are considered opted-in to all active IPM interests (Message Categories) by default. So, when Subscribers from MemberSuite use Higher Logic Thrive Marketing Professional (Thrive Marketing Professional) Data Input Forms with remote interests, they are checked by default.
- To use an IPM interest from MemberSuite in a Thrive Marketing Professional brand, the IPM interest (MemberSuite Message Category) must be created in MemberSuite.
- To be displayed in the brand, the corresponding Message Category should be set to Active in MemberSuite.
Sync IPM Interests
You can sync created, modified, and deleted IPM Interests to Thrive Marketing Professional. To do so:
- Navigate to Subscribers > Profile Fields.
- Click Manage MemberSuite Interests.
MemberSuite Message Categories
You'll create MemberSuite Message Categories in MemberSuite. When these are synced with Thrive Marketing Professional, they are identified as MemberSuite Interests and are displayed on the Profile Fields > Integration Interests page.
Create a Message Category
- Log into MemberSuite and navigate to the Setup tab.
- Click Communications Setup and select E-Marketing Message Categories.
- Click Create a New Message Category.
- Enter the Message Category name in the Name field.
- Check the Is Active? checkbox.
Modify a Message Category
- Click the Pencil icon to access the edit options. Note that you can deactivate a Message Category by unchecking the Is Active? checkbox.
- Click the Trash icon to delete an existing Message Category.
Use MemberSuite Message Categories
Thrive Marketing Professional syncs Message Categories that are stored in MemberSuite with an Active status. An Informz Administrator must first register the Message Categories that should be made available for use within Thrive Marketing Professional.
NOTE: Users must have Informz Administrator permission to register Message Categories.
Manage MemberSuite Interests
- Navigate to Subscribers > Profile Fields.
- Click the menu on the right and select Manage MemberSuite Interests to set the field type.
- Click Manage MemberSuite Interests to display a list of all MemberSuite Message Categories.
- Check the box for the corresponding MemberSuite Interest that you want to use in Thrive Marketing Professional.
- Click Save.
The Manage MemberSuite Interests window displays an alphabetized list of the Message Categories that are used as the communication preferences from MemberSuite. Once checked within this window, the Message Categories are displayed under MemberSuite Interests in Thrive Marketing Professional. They then become available for use on a data input form.
Refresh
Click Refresh to update the list in the Manage MemberSuite Interests window. This becomes relevant when an active MemberSuite session has a newly created or modified Message Category. For example, when the Manage MemberSuite Interests window is active, and a user adds a new Message Category, clicking Refresh updates the Interests in Thrive Marketing Professional to include any new additions.
Save
Click Save to save any changes made in the Manage MemberSuite Interests window. Any selected/unselected Interests saved.
Close
Click Close to close the Manage MemberSuite Interests window.
NOTE: Changes are NOT saved unless you click Save before to closing the window.
Rename a MemberSuite Interest
You can create a display name for a MemberSuite Interest that may be different from the name of the Message Category in MemberSuite.
NOTE: This display name is changed in Thrive Marketing Professional only; it's not changed in the MemberSuite database.
These display names make the Profile Information field on a data input form easier for the subscribers to understand when updating their email preferences.
To rename an Interest:
- Navigate to Subscribers > Profile Fields.
- Click the menu on the right and select Manage MemberSuite Interests to set the field type.
- Click the MemberSuite Interest you want to edit.
- Enter the new Message Category name in the Field Name field.
- Click Save.
NOTE: If the Message Category is renamed within MemberSuite, the MemberSuite Interest in Thrive Marketing Professional is updated with the new name after performing the next remote Interest sync. This occurs when Manage MemberSuite Interests is clicked.
Check the Status of a Subscriber's IPM Interests
The following steps outline the process to view the MemberSuite individual record and to see the updated Message Category status.
- Log into MemberSuite and navigate to CRM > Find an Individual.
- Enter the appropriate search criteria (if you know the individual has a remote ID) and click Find.
- Navigate to the left navigation menu and select the Informz Activities menu item. Here, you can view the updated Message Category activities for an individual.
- To edit the MemberSuite individual Message Category, log into MemberSuite and navigate to CRM > Find an Individual.
- Enter the appropriate search criteria (if you know the individual has a remote ID) and click Find.
- Navigate to the Individual record right menu and click Edit Communication Preference. Message Category changes can be saved here. Opt-Outs are displayed in the left column and Opt-Ins are displayed in the right column.
Test a Landing Page for IPM
When you test a landing page for IPM, it's important that you test to an existing record in the host AMS database so that you can confirm whether the landing page is picking up the subscriber data in the database. To do this:
- Insert a link to the IPM landing page in a template.
- Create a message using that template.
- Send a test message to an existing database record.
- Have the test recipient click the link for the landing page form, and then compete and submit the form.
- Check the host AMS database to ensure that the selections were applied to the test recipient's record.
