Interests profile fields enable you to organize your contacts into groups based on those contacts having one or more commonalities. Interests profile fields can be included on a web-based subscription-management form that allows contacts to opt in to or opt out of your organization's email communications.
NOTE: The opt-in vs. opt-out approach is dependent on how the form is designed.
Interests profile fields are also useful for creating messages that target select groups of people, such as:
- inviting people to an event,
- thanking people who purchased a product, and
- congratulating people in your association who achieved a milestone.
NOTE: When you create an Interests profile field, a corresponding target group is automatically created as well. This makes it easy to use the Interest as the basis for a target group in a message.
Create an Interests profile field
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Contacts > Profile Fields.
- Click the plus sign to the right of the page title.
- Select Interests from the dropdown.
- Complete the form to configure your profile field.

Field Name | (Required) Give your Interest a name that makes its purpose easily understood. |
Target Group Folder | (Required) Select a target group folder in which to store the Interest. |
Description | (Optional) You can include a description that provides context as to the purpose of the Interest. |
Interest Transfer | (Optional) You can transfer contacts from one or more existing Interests into this new Interest. |
- Click Save to create your Interest profile field.
- Review the list and verify that your new Profile Field is listed.
