A Personal Info field is where you store information about your contacts. You can store details like first name, age, and date of birth. Data can be typed directly into these fields, but most of the time you'll be using the upload feature to populate them.
After these fields are created and populated, they can be used for personalization and targeting.
Create a Personal Info field
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Contacts > Profile Fields.
- Click the plus sign to the right of the page title.
- Select Personal Information from the menu.
- Complete the form to configure your field.
Field options
Field | Description |
---|---|
Field Name | Give your field a name. This is the name that will be displayed on a subscription form. |
Data Type |
Select the type of data that will be entered in this field:
NOTE: There will be a slight variation in the remaining fields depending on the Data Type selected here. These variations are not listed in this table. |
Default Value | While adding a default value is optional, doing so ensures that if you use personalization in your message, and your contact doesn't fill anything out, there will be a default value used. For example, default values for First Name are "Friend" or "Valued Member." |
Description | If needed, you can enter an optional description to provide context to the field's purpose. |
Propercase on Upload | Check this box to have the system automatically capitalize the first letter of each word for all text data that is uploaded to this field. |
- Click Save to create your Personal Info field.
NOTE: After you've created Personal Information fields, you shouldn't delete them because if a field is used in data formats or target groups, that information will be incomplete and the system will not be able to read it. If you do try to delete the information, the system will display an error message.
