The Design tab is where you create the stories for your mailing. You can use the built-in HTML editor or paste code created outside of Marketing Automation Professional (MA Professional). You can also perform some initial testing here.
To access the Design tab, navigate to Mailings > Create > Mailing > Design.
NOTE: If you're creating a new mailing, you'll need to complete the Set-Up tab before being able to access the Design tab.
Design Tab Controls
When you are working within the Mailing Designer, there are a few buttons in the Design tab that allow you to customize your on-screen experience. Let's take a moment to learn about these easy-to-use controls.
If set to Show, the various areas of a mailing are displayed, making it easy for you to understand.
Click Preview to view your mailing as though it was in your inbox. This will open a new window.
You can choose to view the HTML, Text, and Online versions of your mailing by clicking the corresponding buttons.
Email to Me
Click Email To Me to send the HTML and Text versions of your mailing directly to your inbox, making it an ideal way to test a mailing in an actual email client.
A/B testing is a feature that allows testing of variations of your mailing. The basic approach is this - take your target group and identify a reasonable percentage as your test group. Send half of the test group one version, and the other half a different version. By examining which version did better, you become attuned to what your subscribers prefer.
Within MA Professional, you can A/B test the following:
- Friendly From
- Subject Line
- One Story
- All Stories
Testing helps you to determine what changes can be implemented to improve delivery and open results for your mailings.
Create a Story Layout
Creating consistency leads to greater efficiencies for you and your teams. When building many mailings, you need tools to speed up the process and to keep a consistent look with your layouts.
Story Layouts save so much time by giving you an easy tool to place structured content in the story of a mailing. When creating story layouts, it's the same as working in the mailing editor, except you're building it in a different place so it can be used - and reused - over and over again, saving you time and effort.
- Navigate to Mailings > Options > Story Layouts.
- Click Create.
- Use the editor to create and style your desired content for the Story Layout.
NOTE: After you've built the story layout and are ready to use it, you will have to insert it into the mailing. See Insert a Story Layout to learn how to do so.
