If your image looks a little skewed or imperfect when you look at your mobile preview, you can add alternative images to your messages to improve mobile rendering.
Edit images on the fly
In the example that follows, an image is inserted from the Common Images repo in Asset Manager.
- As detailed in Asset Manager in the Designers, these images cannot be edited.
- If you choose one of your account-specific images, located in the Your Images repo, you can edit it "on the fly" before assigning it as the alternate image.
Add an alternative image
This section details how to assign an alternative image for a message when it displays on mobile devices. This example will replace the winter trees image that the message currently features.
To add an alternative image for mobile devices:
- Access the Admin interface and navigate to Messages > List and create a message (or edit an existing message) in Message Designer.
- Add (or edit) a story that contains an image.
- On the Content tab of the Image Properties panel, click the For mobile version dropdown and select use alternate image. Initially, the current image displays for Mobile Image.
- You can now:
- Click the image's file name (in our example, winter-trees-forest.jpg) to open Asset Manager in an overlay window to choose a different image;
- Click the X to delete the image and then click Select image to open Asset Manager in an overlay window to choose a different image; OR...
- Click the Edit Image button to open Image Editor where you can make changes to the current image and save it as an alternative image for mobile devices. (Refer to Edit images on the fly, above, for image-editing information.)
A preview of your selected image (e.g., tundra-iceberg-winter-ocean.jpg) displays as the selection for Mobile Image.
Alternative image notes
- If you select an alternative image and then disable and re-enable the use alternate image for mobile option, the system "remembers" the last image that it had selected if you continue to work in the layout.
- However, if you navigate away from the layout, the system does not "remember" the image that was selected last and, instead, it loads the original image.
