You can manage the community notifications settings for users right in the Admin interface. This simplifies your work and saves time because you stay on one Admin page to manage multiple users.
NOTE: You can also manage users' community notifications settings in the community by impersonating users, accessing their profiles, and then managing their community notifications. This requires a lot of navigation in the community and individual impersonation sessions for each user that you want to manage.
To learn about the various types of community notifications, see Manage your Community Notifications.
Common use cases
Users can manage their own community notifications in their profiles, but some users may not know how and will request help. Users might want to change their community notifications if:
- they're receiving too many email messages. In this case, switch them to Daily and/or Weekly Consolidated Digests instead of Real Time email messages.
- they're not receiving email notifications from one of their community Discussions. In this case, adjust their notification setting from No Email to Real Time email messages or to one of the Digest options.
Access the Community Subscriptions page
- In the Admin Toolbar, click Admin.
- Navigate to Users > Tools > Community Subscriptions.
NOTE: The My Account > Community Notifications page of the user's profile will reflect any changes that are made here.
Manage community notifications for an individual user
To manage a user's community notifications:
- Search for a user by their primary email address (or by ID if the community is AMS-managed).
NOTE: Specify the email address in its entirety; a partial email address is not valid.
- When the page refreshes and loads the configuration settings, you can (reference the letters to the image below):
- Change the email address where the user's Daily Consolidated Digest and Weekly Consolidated Digest messages are delivered.
NOTE: You'll be able to enter overrides only if the user has at least one community added to these digests. This is managed at the bottom of the page by checking the boxes.
- Change the day their Weekly Consolidated Digest is delivered.
- Set override email addresses for each of the communities the user belongs to, meaning its Discussion email messages will be delivered to an address other than their primary email address.
- This toggle controls whether the delivery of a Discussion's email messages automatically stops if a user adds it to a Daily or Weekly Consolidated Digest. Setting this to Yes is recommended to prevent users from receiving multiple email messages that contain the same content.
- All of the communities that the user belongs to are listed at the bottom of the page. You can:
- manage the delivery setting (Real Time, Daily Digest, No Email) for each community's Discussion and/or
- manage whether a community's content is included in the Consolidated Digests.
