Marketing Automation Enterprise (MA Enterprise) gives you the ability to set a default Time Zone for your account's scheduled messages. You can also choose which time zones will display in a dropdown on a contact's record; your contacts can choose their appropriate time zone.
Enabling & Permissions
Time Zone is an optional feature that is not enabled by default. To have it enabled in your account, create a case.
When enabling Time Zone for your account, an Admin user may determine that only certain users should be allowed to use this functionality.
NOTE: Users must have the Send Message to Group permission in order to be able to send messages based on users' time zones. Refer to Send Time Zone-based messages, below, to learn about this option.
To manage your account's Time Zone settings:
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Messages > Options > Time Zone.
Use this page to set an account default time zone and select time zones to display to contacts.
Set your account default Time Zone
In the upper part of the page (Configure Time Zone), you can choose which time zone will be the default for your account's scheduled messages.
- Click the dropdown and choose a time zone.
- Click Submit.
A confirmation message will appear at the top of the page and the time zone will display in the dropdown window.
The chosen time zone will be the system default that is used to determine when to send scheduled messages.
NOTE: If a contact record does not have location information, scheduled messages will be sent to that contact based on this time zone.
Select Time Zones to Display
In this section, you can choose which time zones will display in a dropdown on contact records. Your contacts can then choose their appropriate time zone.
NOTE: The time zone that is chosen by a contact will be used to determine when to send scheduled messages. The account default time zone will be used to send scheduled messages to contacts who have not chosen a time zone.
- Check the boxes for all of the time zones that you want displayed in the time zone-selection dropdown on contacts' profiles.
- Click Submit.
A confirmation message will appear at the top of the page.
Send Time Zone-based messages
MA Enterprise offers the ability to send messages to contacts according to each contact's time zone. The send time (such as 1:00 pm) will remain the same, but the message will be sent to each contact at 1:00 pm based on which (if any) time zone is set for their profile.
NOTE: The account default time zone will be used to send scheduled messages to contacts who have not chosen a time zone.
MA Enterprise uses the following logic to determine a contact's time zone.
- The contact's zip/postal code.
- For contacts without a zip/postal code, MA Enterprise will reference the State/Territory value.
- If the contact record contains neither zip code or state, the message will be sent according to the default time zone.
