Higher Logic Thrive Marketing Professional (Thrive Marketing Professional) offers two features that enable mailing content to be "shared" on social-media sites:
- Social posting (the focus of this article) and
- Social sharing (see Features - Social Sharing)
Posting vs. Sharing features
The following table provides a quick reference of the notable differences in these two features.
Feature | Availability | Automatic? | Actor |
---|---|---|---|
Social posting | Mailing Designer 1 (MD1) only | Yes | Thrive Marketing Professional |
Social sharing | Mailing Designer 1 (MD1) and Message Designer 2 (MD2) | No | Your contacts (message recipients) |
Social posting
You can link your organization's social-media accounts to your Thrive Marketing Professional account in order to start using the social posting feature.
When these accounts are linked and you send a message to your Thrive Marketing Professional contacts, Thrive Marketing Professional simultaneously (and automatically) creates a post (a "social post") on the social-media sites that have been linked.
This simplifies sharing a message with your social-media followers, and the post includes a link to the online version of the message.
Enable social posting
This section describes how to enable social posting for a social-media account. Each social-media account that is linked to your Thrive Marketing Professional account is represented by a thumbnail image.
By default, social posting is disabled and the thumbnails are "grayed out."
To enable social posting for a linked social-media account:
- Navigate to Mailings > View.
- Click the Set-Up tab and scroll to the Social Posts section.
- Click the thumbnail for the social-media account for which you want to enable social posting.
- In the text field, type (or paste) the post text that you want to accompany the online version of the mailing.
- Click Save.
Failed social posts
If your social postings fail, your social-media accounts might not be set up correctly.
You can check whether your social posts are failing by navigating to the Mailing Activity Report for a mailing and checking the reports in the Viral tab.
In the Post Status column, failed posts are indicated by the word FAILED.
Click Resend Post to retry the post.
If the retry doesn't work and the problem persists, create a case with Higher Logic Support.
