This article...
- Explains the two options for users to indicate their interest in a question.
- Describes how Admins can access and edit the settings for these two options.
- Indicates that Admins can publish their customizations and that they should then verify those changes.
- Provides an example of changes to these options' labels, and discusses the effects of user clicks.
Q&A threads have two options with which community users can indicate their interest and engagement with other users' questions. Users can click the:
- I have this question too option to indicate that they, too, have this question.
- Helpful option to indicate they found a helpful answer to the question.
NOTE: These are the default labels of these options. You can customize these labels as described in this article.
Customize the labels
You can customize the text of these labels to make them more in line with your organization's established or preferred nomenclature.
- Navigate to a community with Q&A enabled.
- Click the Questions tab (or Threads tab, if the Q&A and Discussions threads are enabled).
- Click Edit Page in the Admin Toolbar to access Page Designer.
- Click to select the View Contributions widget, and then click the pencil icon to manage the settings.
- In the pop-up, use the:
-
- Recommend Answer Text field to manage the label text (e.g., Up-vote!) of the "Helpful" option.
- Recommend Question Text field to manage the label text (e.g., I also have this question) of the "I have this question too" option.
- Click Save to close the pop-up and preserve your changes.
- Click Publish to apply your changes.
Your changes are applied to all Q&A threads across the community.
TIP: Navigate to any Q&A thread in the community and verify the changes.
Text changes and click effects
The image below shows the same Q&A thread page from the beginning of this article. Note that:
- text of the two labels has been updated to reflect the changes that were made in the "customization" steps above.
It also shows that, when a user clicks these options:
- the text becomes bold to indicate that the option has been clicked it and
- the click count increments by one.
NOTE: A user can click either of these options again to "undo/remove" their interest in this question.
