Before you begin
- Review the MemberSuite Integration Overview to answer general questions about the integration; more detailed information can be found in the MemberSuite Integration Articles.
- Confirm that someone on your team has Admin permissions in MemberSuite to create the API credentials.
- Ensure that Higher Logic Thrive Marketing Professional (Thrive Marketing Professional) is licensed for an integration. You can do this by confirming with your Implementation Project Manager or creating a case via support.higherlogic.com.
Getting started
- Create the API user and credentials in MemberSuite.
- Update the configuration settings in your Thrive Marketing Professional account.
- In Thrive Marketing Professional, navigate to Admin > System Settings > Edit Integration Settings.
- Populate the fields with the information from MemberSuite:
- Active: Mark the checkbox
- Association ID
- Access Key ID
- Secret Access Key
- Click Update.
Post-configuration steps
Once the integration is completed:
- Review the integration documentation and learning materials.
- Create a target group.
The MemberSuite integration will only sync records where the Do Not Email flag is set to No. As of 2018, due to GDPR, new records created in MemberSuite will have this field defaulted to Yes.
- Enable writebacks.
Advanced testing
Creating a test Distribution List
- Create a test Distribution List as per the steps outlined in MemberSuite Target Groups.
- The list should only include the single test record created above.
Syncing - Target Group List sync
- In Thrive Marketing Professional, navigate to Subscribers > Target Groups.
- Select the MemberSuite Target Group folder.
- Click Refresh Target Group List.
- Confirm that the sample distribution list that you created is visible in the Target Group List.
Syncing - Individual Target Group sync
- Hover over the sample distribution list and click Info.
- Click sync.
- Confirm that the sync successfully displays the record in the sample distribution list.
Personalization - Send a mailing with personalization
- In Thrive Marketing Professional, navigate to Admin > Setup > Bridge Configuration.
- Under Personalization Attributes, click List of Personalization Attributes.
- Confirm that the personalization attributes are available.
- Create a mailing to test personalization:
- Target the mailing to the sample MemberSuite target group.
- Add the First Name personalization to the mailing.
- Publish the mailing.
- Confirm that the first name personalization is successfully pulled into the sent mailing.
Unsubscribe - confirm writeback
- In Thrive Marketing Professional, navigate to Subscribers > Target Groups.
- Find the sample target group that the you created and drill down to view the subscriber record in the target group.
- Unsubscribe the subscriber.
- Navigate to Admin > Setup > Bridge Configuration.
- Under Writebacks, click Writeback List.
- Confirm that the unsubscribe write-back has a status of "Sent" (the write-back may take a few minutes to be sent; periodically refresh the page until status is updated).
- Once the write-back has a status of "Sent," confirm that the test record has been updated with the unsubscribe write-back.
Resubscribe - confirm writeback
- In Thrive Marketing Professional, navigate to Subscribers > Search.
- Search for the test record that was previously unsubscribed.
- Resubscribe the subscriber.
- Navigate to Admin > Setup > Bridge Configuration.
- Under Writebacks, click Writeback List.
- Confirm that the resubscribe write-back has a status of "Sent" (the write-back may take a few minutes to be sent; periodically refresh the page until status is updated).
- Once the write-back has a status of "Sent," confirm that the test record has been updated with the resubscribe write-back.
