The Reviewer tool makes it easy for you to add comments when you're reviewing an email message. For the admin who requested the review, the Reviewer tool simplifies applying any suggested changes.
Reviewer tool overview
Let's take a look at some of the benefits and how to use it.
Benefits of the Reviewer tool
The Reviewer tool simplifies your message-review work in several ways.
- The Reviewer tool is easy for reviewers to access because the review-request message that is sent to each reviewer has a link directly to the message.
- The automatic "request" message eliminates having to write a message to request the review and having to copy-&-paste links.
- The Reviewer tool's interface, functionality, and options are easy to use and easy to understand; refer to Reviewer overview, below.
- All suggested changes and comments are logged for historical and review purposes.
Using the Reviewer tool
As a reviewer, you can:
- Add location-specific comments, such as "Replace this image."
- Add general comments, such as "Capitalize all mentions of the org name."
- Reply to other reviewers' comments right in the comment panel.
- Test hyperlinks to ensure they work properly and link to the expected location.
Reviewer sections
The Reviewer tool has two "working" sections:
- The "canvas" (blue box) is where the message content displays and where you can pinpoint your location-specific comments and test links.
- The comment panel (red box) is where all the comments display for easy review and easy access (to reply, edit, or delete), and where you add general comments.
TIP: Comments display most recent (top) to oldest. If there are a lot of comments, use the View dropdown to choose which type to display.
Let's look at how to add comments and replies.
Add location-specific comments
Location-specific comments make it easy to focus your comments and suggestions to a specific area of the message.
NOTE: In this "default" mode, your cursor displays as a large plus sign, as shown below.
When you click Test links in the upper right, the cursor reverts to your default style and links become active/clickable. Click Add Comments to return to the default mode.
To add a location-specific comment:
- Hover where you want to insert the comment and click.
- In the pop-up, type your comment and click Add Comment.
Your comment displays in the comment panel with a green left tab and border and a green locator pin is placed where you made the comment.
TIP: When you hover on a locator pin, the associated comment becomes shaded.
Test links
- Click Test links in the upper right to enable the message's links.
- Click a link and verify that it opens the expected page.
After testing the links, click Add Comments to return to the commenting mode.
Add general comments
General comments are a great way to indicate a change or suggestion that applies more generally to the message.
To add a general comment:
- Click Add in the upper right of the comment panel.
- In the pop-up, type your comment and click Add General Comment.
Your comment displays in the comment panel with a blue left tab and border.
Reply to a comment
You can easily reply to a comment to, for example, request clarification or answer a question. Your reply will be added directly below the original comment and within the comment box in order to retain the "thread."
To reply to a comment:
- Click Reply under the reviewer's name.
- In the pop-up, type your comment and click Add Comment.
Manage your own comments
You can edit and delete your own comments (location-specific and general) right in the comment panel.
- You can edit and delete only those comments that you have added; you cannot manage the comments of others.
- You cannot edit or delete your comments if they have a reply.
To edit one of your comments:
- Click Edit under the comment.
- In the pop-up, make the updates to your comment and click Edit Comment.
The comment panel refreshes and your changes display.
To delete one of your comments:
- Click Delete under the comment.
- At the confirmation prompt, click Delete Comment.
The comment panel refreshes and the comment no longer displays.
Edit a reviewed message (MD2 only)
If a Mailing Designer 2 (MD2) message has been reviewed, a Comments tab appears on the right side of the Message Designer. Refer to Actions and Notes, below, for more information.
- Click the Comments tab to expand the panel so that the comments can be easily referenced as you edit the message.
NOTE: This option displays only for the message creator, the admin who requested the review, and the reviewers.
Actions
- The colored tabs and borders mirror the green (location-specific) and blue (general) that are used in the Reviewer tool.
- If the message has had multiple reviews, use the dropdown to select a review's comments.
- You can:
- Check the Show all Comments box to display all comments, including those that are hidden.
- Click Reply to reply to the comment right in the box.
- Click Done to hide a comment.
Notes
- Hidden comments will display when you check Show all Comments.
- You can click Show on a hidden comment to make it visible again.
