The reports that are available in the Message Summary Reports (MSR) offer unique data for various aspects of your mailings, such as recipient engagement, responses to message-based advertisements, and link clicks.
In addition to reviewing a report that has data on a specific activity, you can apply several filters in order to:
- limit the size of the report and the number of results it displays and
- focus on the exact data you want (e.g., based on a date range or which templates were used).
This article describes the filters that are available on the Select Messages tab.
NOTE: References to Message Summary Reports reflect a rebranding initiative. Message Summary Reports and Mailing Summary Reports refer to the same set of reports with the same options and functionality.
Access the Message Summary Reports
- Access the Admin interface and click the Communications tab above the search field.
- Navigate to Messages > Reports > Message Summary Reports.
The Message Summary Reports opens on the Select Messages tab.
Apply filters
The Select Messages tab is where you have the option to apply filters to the reports.
- In the Filter Messages panel, expand the categories to set the filters you want to apply.
- The filter options are described below in Message Summary Reports filters.
- You can choose any number and combination of filters to refine the data in the report.
- Click UPDATE RESULTS below the filters.
The messages that meet your filter criteria display in a table in the right panel.
TIP: Even after applying the filters, there may be still messages you want to remove so that your data set is as appropriate as possible. Check the boxes to the left of any messages you want to exclude, and then click Exclude Messages. (Click Reset to restore the original list of messages.)
- Click the View Reports tab to review the reports.
The Reports section of the knowledge base has articles that are dedicated to each of the reports on the View Reports tab.
Message Summary Reports filters
The table below describes each of the available filters.
- The filters that are available to you are based on your account.
- For example, if you're not using folders to organize your messages, the Folders filter will not display.
Filter | Description |
---|---|
Folders - Accept the default, all folders, or check / uncheck boxes to include / exclude folders from the report. | |
Group - Use the dropdowns to select a folder and then a group on which to filter the report. | |
Message Name - Specify letters, numerals, and/or characters to filter by message name. The field is not case sensitive, and the more characters you type, the deeper the filtering. | |
Message Subject - Specify letters, numerals, and/or characters to filter by message subject. The field is not case sensitive, and the more characters you type, the deeper the filtering. | |
Date Range - Use the calendar icons to limit the report results to a date range. | |
Number of Contacts - Use the double-ended slider to filter the report with minimum and/or maximum thresholds for the "number of recipients" who were sent a message. | |
Templates - Accept the default, all templates, or check / uncheck boxes to include / exclude templates from the report. Use this to compare the performance of messages that were based on different templates. |
