Just as important as selling the initial membership to a user is having them renew when the times comes. With Higher Logic's Member Management system, membership renewal alerts are front and center to the user experience to ensure renewals are not forgotten.
In this article, you'll learn about:
- The various renewal alerts available, and where users will see them
- How to enable a site-wide renewal notification banner
- How to manage the membership renewal reminder email templates
Renewal alert types
Membership renewal alerts come in many forms, so let's take a look at each.
Site-wide join/renewal banner
If enabled, this alert banner displays at the top of the interior pages across your Higher Logic Thrive Community (Thrive Community), like you see below. This banner comes in two forms:
- It alerts users that they don't currently have a membership, providing access to obtain one.
- It alerts users that their current membership is up for renewal, along with the exact date their benefits will expire. A link is included providing easy access to renew.
NOTE: Super Admins can enable/disable this renewal banner at any time. Refer to the Set up a site-wide renewal banner section below for details on how to set this up.
Automatic email notifications
By default, the Member Management system will send email notification reminders to users 90, 60, and 30 days out from their scheduled renewal date containing a direct link to renew.
NOTE: Super Admins can update the default text in these templates, if desired. Refer to the Manage the membership email templates section below to learn how.
User profile
When Member Management is enabled on a Thrive Community site, two features are automatically enabled on user profiles:
- A membership details widget is added (shown on the left) that will not only show a member's current membership status but also include a link to renew if within the renewal period. You can choose where to place this widget.
- The Membership page is added to the My Account menu, making it easy for members to view both their current membership status and total membership history (along with payment invoices).
