To participate in your community's Mentor Match program, you must enroll as a Mentor or Mentee (or both) before you'll be able to request a mentoring relationship with another enrolled user.
- As a Mentor, you'll have the opportunity to share your knowledge with Mentees.
- As a Mentee, you'll benefit by gaining insight from someone with experience in a particular field.
Enroll as a Mentor
NOTE: Prior to following these steps, complete your My Profile page as much as possible. Make sure that: your contact information is up to date; you've uploaded a recent professional profile picture; and you've expanded on your bio, education, and job history information. Then, after enrolling, you should complete your Mentor profile.
TIP: Having a complete and accurate profile is crucial to the success of Mentor-Mentee selection and matching.
With the default site configuration, navigate to Participate > Engage in Mentoring on your site's main Navigation bar. Then, click your site's Enroll as a Mentor link.
- Fill out the information in the Mentor Status area. This is where you define your mentorship settings, such as a start/end date for your mentorship, how many mentees you're willing to accept, etc.
- Select the program demographics best suited for you. The demographics available to you are configured by your organization. Keep in mind the more information you provide, the better your matches will be with potential Mentees, as these demographics are what they'll use to search for a Mentor.
- When finished, click Save to complete your enrollment.
If you haven't already, set up your Mentor profile so Mentees can learn more about you.
See Set Up Your Mentor/Mentee Profile for more information.
Notes about the Mentor Enrollment form
Your community may have a site-wide feature enabled that defines either a fixed end date for mentor relationships or fixed number of days relationships can last (e.g., 30 days). This configuration is set by Higher Logic for your organization.
- If an end date for mentor relationships is set, the Current Program Duration field will display the defined end date.
- If an end date for mentor relationships is set, you won't be able to select a date after the specified end date.
- If a specified number of days a program can run is set, the Current Program Duration field will display the maximum number of days a program can run.
- If a specified number of days a program can run is set, you can select a number of days equal to or less than the maximum program duration.
