Security Groups are the fundamental categories to which your users belong, and control access to your community site's content at a high level. There are two ways to add users to a Security Group: individually and in groups (via a batch upload).
NOTE: This article describes how to add users to Higher Logic Security Groups; for AMS/CRM-integrated clients, database Security Groups are managed and assigned to users in the AMS/CRM.
Higher Logic Security Groups Information
- Learn more about security in your Higher Logic site and the role that Security Groups play in Understand Security Groups.
- You can create Higher Logic Security Groups on the Admin > Users > Security Groups page, and then add users to those groups. See Manage Security Groups to learn how.
Manage a User's Security Groups
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Users > List.
- Select a user in the list.
- Click Edit.
- In the resulting dialog, click the Higher Logic Managed Security Groups field and select one or more Security Groups.
- Click Save at the bottom of the dialog to assign the Security Group(s) to the user.
Bulk-add Users to a Security Group
With this method, you can add users to a Higher Logic-managed Security Group by uploading a .csv file of users' email addresses or integration keys.
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Users > Security Groups.
- Click the security group upload icon above the list.
- Select the Security Group you want to add the users to from the menu.
- Select the upload method: via email addresses or integration keys.
- Click Choose File and browse for the .csv file.
- Click Upload, followed by Yes in the confirmation dialog.
TIP: Navigate to Users > Security Groups and verify the users were added to your selected Security Group.
