- Details how Sending Profiles store configuration data to optimize email deliverability and manage message sending options across your organization.
- Explains how to create, edit, and delete Sending Profiles.
- Describes required fields and configuration options, including IP Address, Return Path, Pre-Pend Domain, and Sender ID.
Sending Profiles allow admins to create configurable profiles of deliverability settings—such as IP addresses, return paths, and sender identifiers—that dictate how email messages are technically sent from your account. Sending Profiles give you granular control over the technical details of message delivery, supporting advanced deliverability management and ensuring optimal inbox placement, even across diverse sending scenarios.
Enabling & permissions
NOTE: This is not a default feature. To have it enabled in your account, create a case.
When enabling Sending Profiles for your account, an Admin may determine that only certain users should be allowed to use this functionality.
An Admin can work with Higher Logic staff to pre-populate the options for the Return Path and Pre-Pend Domain fields. These will be the only available options when creating and editing a Sending Profile.
NOTE: If the Enterprise feature is enabled in your account, Sending Profiles can be set as a configurable Enterprise asset.
Use-cases for Sending Profiles
- Deliverability optimization: By assigning different IP addresses or domains, you can distribute outgoing messages to avoid overloading a single IP (which can trigger spam filters at Email Service Providers [ESPs]).
- Consistency and branding: Sending Profiles centralize control over sender technical details, ensuring all outbound messages use the correct domains, return paths, and sender IDs.
- Segmentation: Large organizations or agencies with multiple brands or programs can assign unique Sending Profiles to different divisions, campaigns, or types of mailings.

Option | Description |
---|---|
Sending Profile Name | Specify a name for the profile. Letters, numerals, and special characters are valid characters. TIP: If your account has other Sending Profiles and is using a specific naming convention, we recommend adhering to that convention for consistency. |
IP Address | The IP address from which your messages will be sent.
|
Return Path | This address represents the actual sender of the message in the email header. It is the address that SPF Authentication is checked against and the address that asynchronous bounces are sent to. |
Pre-Pend Domain | This domain is used by the system to rewrite each link in the message to direct that link back to Higher Logic to collect link-click data. After the tracking data is captured, the request is redirected to the link in the message. |
Sender ID | There is only one option: the default sender@mmsend.com. |
