Admins can create Sending Profiles which store configuration data (such as IP Addresses and Sender ID) for email messages and make it easy to choose from several profiles when sending messages. This is important because sending too many messages from the same IP address to the same Email Service Provider (ESP) can cause problems. Using a sending profile allows you to modify how your email messages are sent to ensure they are deliverable to the widest number of subscribed contacts.
Use this page to manage Sending Profiles for your account.
Enabling & Permissions
NOTE: This is not a default feature. To have it enabled in your account, create a case.
When enabling Sending Profiles for your account, an Admin may determine that only certain users should be allowed to use this functionality.
An Admin will work with Higher Logic staff to pre-populate the options for the Return Path and Pre-Pend Domain fields. These will be the only available options when creating and editing a Sending Profile.
NOTE: If the Enterprise feature is enabled in your account, Sending Profiles can be set as a configurable Enterprise asset.
Manage your Sending Profiles
To access your account's Sending Profiles:
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Messages > Options > Sending Profiles.
Use this page to create, edit, and delete sending profiles.
TIP: Click a column header to sort on that column; click again to reverse the order.
Create a Sending Profile
The following table describes the options for creating a sending profile.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Sending Profile Name | Specify a name for the profile. Letters, numerals, and special characters are valid characters. TIP: If your account has other sending profiles and is using a naming convention, stick to that convention. |
IP Address | The IP address from which your messages will be sent.
|
Return Path | This address represents the actual sender of the message in the email header. It is the address that SPF Authentication is checked against and the address that asynchronous bounces are sent to. |
Pre-Pend Domain | This domain is used by the system to rewrite each link in the message to direct that link back to Higher Logic to collect link-click data. After the tracking data is captured, the request is redirected to the link in the message. |
Sender ID | There is only one option, the default, sender@mmsend.com. |
