Higher Logic Thrive Marketing Professional includes detection logic that is designed to filter out non-human interactions (NHI).
NHI are typically triggered by security and anti-malware systems within email applications.
While detection-logic systems are critical for protecting user privacy, they sometimes mimic natural user actions (such as opening an email message) which can artificially inflate user-engagement metrics.
Activity-detection safeguards
Higher Logic continues to enhance reporting in our products in order to ensure that activity metrics reflect real human engagement.
Over the past several months, we have introduced new safeguards against inflated "opens" and "clicks" counts that are caused by bots and security systems, such as:
- Coordinated Clicks Detection – filters suspicious bulk clicks from the same IP.
- Coordinated Opens Detection – flags non-human mass opens shortly after send.
- Coordinated Domain Opens Detection – identifies organizational scanning activity.
These enhancements build on our ongoing efforts to deliver more accurate and transparent reporting. Any filtered activity is securely tracked, and our Support Team is here to help if you believe legitimate interactions were affected.
With the improved filtering, you may notice a decrease in your "open" rates in your reports.
NOTE: This decrease does not indicate that your audience is less engaged. Instead, the lower rate of opens reflects a more accurate reckoning of legitimate human engagement (as opposed to automated activity).
Disable tracking
Despite the safeguards that we have introduced, we've determined that unsubscribe, form, and manage-preference links continue to be targeted by NHIs. We are actively monitoring this activity and remain committed to exploring new strategies to further reduce the impact of NHIs.
In the interim, we recommend that you disable tracking on unsubscribe, form, and manage-preference links. This change is made at the Template level.
TIP: Unsubscribe metrics can still be obtained for Sent messages on the Key Metrics tab of the Mailing Activity Report.
