This article offers a high-level look at how to manage your organization's Templates. In Thrive Marketing Enterprise, Templates are stored in three areas for different purposes.
- The Working and Live Templates that have been created in your organization are in Messages > Assets > Templates. These Templates are unique to your organization.
NOTE: This article focuses on this page because it is where you'll do most of your Template management (create, edit, and publish).
- Higher Logic pre-configured Templates are in Messages > Assets > Template Library. Refer to Template Library for information.
- Your organization's published Templates are in Messages > Preview > Preview Template. Refer to Preview published Templates for information.
Access your Templates
To access the Manage Templates page:
- Access the Admin interface.
- Navigate to Messages > Assets > Templates.
The page lists your organization's working and live Templates.
Templates list columns
The page's current columns are displayed above the list. You can customize which columns display via the X columns out of X link below the list (highlighted below).
TIP: Click a column header to sort on that column; click again to reverse the sort order. Click the columns count below the list to add and remove columns in the current view.
Most of the columns are self-explanatory; those that aren't are described below.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Status | Indicates whether a Template is Working or Live. - Live Templates have been published and are available for use. - Working Templates are in-progress and are not available for use. NOTE: Editing a Template will automatically set it to Working (and make it unavailable) so that you can make changes. |
Messages | Indicates how many messages are using the Template. |
Themes | Indicates the status of a Template's theme (i.e., its pre-set font style and size, and the background color). Click Edit to manage this setting. - A locked theme cannot be changed. - An unlocked theme's customizations can be overridden. |
Transactional | Yes indicates that the Template will be used for transactional messages; that is, messages that do not have to include an "unsubscribe" link. Click Properties to change this setting. NOTE: See Transactional Templates & Messages and Unsubscribe Options for information. |
Create a Template
- Click Create New and give the Template a name.
- You can also add a description, lock the Template theme, and make it a transactional template.

- Set the pixel width of your message canvas (the area where you'll add message content).
NOTE: If you plan to use a banner image, specify a width that will accommodate your banner.
- Use the Zones and Design tabs to build the Template. Remember: You're not creating a message that has to be populated with content; you're creating a Template that will guide where the various types of content (text, images, links) will reside.
TIP: The editor automatically saves every action as you create/edit a Template. However, it's a good idea to occasionally manually save.
