Higher Logic makes it easy for Super Admins to copy pages from one microsite (or your main site) to another microsite. The Copy Pages tool is a great resource if:

• You have custom content and/or pages on one site that you want replicated on another site.
• You have inadvertently removed pages from a microsite and want to restore them.

Copy vs. Syndicate

In addition to copying pages, you can syndicate pages from one microsite (or your main site) to another microsite.

The main difference between copying and syndicating is that the syndicated page (the page on the "destination" site) is not an independent entity; it remains linked to the original site page and gets automatically updated with any changes made to that original page.

Notes & limitations

Before you use the Copy Pages tool, review the information in this section to understand how the tool works.

A copied page becomes an independent entity on the Destination; changes to the original page on the Source are not propagated to the copied page on the Destination.

NOTE: Copied pages retain all page properties and contents of the original, except those that are indicated in this section.

Notes

• You can copy up to 10 pages per copy action.
• You can copy between only one Source-Destination pairing per copy action.
• Pages on the Source site that have in-progress edits can be copied to a Destination site; however, the last published version of the page will be copied without any of the in-progress edits.

NOTE: After the editing is complete and the page republished, it can be copied again to the Destination site to include the updates. This is a new instance of the copied page on the Destination site.

• Copied pages are put into the Main Button Bar of the CMS (navigation tree) under a "parent element" named Copied Pages YYYY-MM-DD #1 on the Destination site. (This "parent element" is included just to house the copied pages and will most likely be deleted. The #1 will be #2, #3, etc. for subsequent page-copy actions. Refer to Manage your copied pages, below, for more information.)
• Copied pages' positions in the (Source site) page hierarchy are not carried over to the Destination site.
• The Visible in Navigation checkbox in the (copied) page on the Destination site is unchecked by default, irrespective of its setting on the Source site. This ensures that copied pages are hidden and not included in the Destination site's navigation until an Admin is ready to publish them.
• Source pages can be copied to more than one Destination but each copy requires a distinct copy action.
• A page that has been copied to a Destination can be used as the Source page in a subsequent copy action.
• A page that has been copied from a Source site (e.g., Source A) to a Destination site (e.g., Destination Z) can be copied again from Source A to Destination Z. In this case, the CMS on the Destination site adds a suffix to the page code name in order to avoid duplicates.

NOTE: Any time a copied page's page code name is already in use by a page on the Destination site, the CMS on the Destination site adds a suffix to the page code name in order to avoid duplicates.

Archive limitations

• Archived microsites are not eligible to be Source sites or Destination sites for page copying, so they will not be presented.
• Archived pages in the Source site are not eligible to be copied to another site, so they will not be presented.

Access the Copy Pages tool

To access the Copy Pages tool:

1. In the Admin Toolbar, click Admin.

2. Navigate to Pages > Copy Pages.

Copy pages

On the Copy Pages page you can:

• simultaneously copy as many as 10 pages per copy action.
• copy between only one Source-Destination pairing per copy action.

1. Click the Source Site dropdown and select the microsite (or your main site) that hosts the pages you want to copy.
2. Click the Destination Site dropdown and select the site that you want to copy to.
3. Click the Page(s) To Copy dropdown and select one or more (up to 10) pages to copy to the Destination site.
4. Click Copy Pages.
   (Click Reset to clear all fields and start again.)

A message at the top of the page confirms that the copying was successful.

• Navigate to the Destination site's CMS page and confirm the pages have copied as expected; refer to Manage your copied pages, below, for more information.

Tips

Repeat the above steps to:

• copy additional pages between the same Source and Destination.
• copy pages to/from a different Source site or a different Destination site.
• copy pages between a fresh Source-Destination pairing.

Manage your copied pages

After you have copied pages to a Destination site, check the site's CMS to ensure the pages are present and to manage them.

1. On the Admin Toolbar, click (or right click for a new tab) Edit Navigation.

2. In the CMS, scroll down to and open the new Copied Pages YYYY-MM-DD #x "parent element."
3. Manage (rename, edit, show, move) the copied pages (Become a Mentor, Community Members, and Become a Volunteer in the example below) as described in Understand the CMS.

You can manage the "parent element" by:

• renaming it,
• moving it, or
• deleting it (after the copied pages are moved).
