This article details a few current Known Issues. When these issues are resolved, the article will be archived.
TIP: See Known Issue Descriptions & Targets for Resolution for information about how Higher Logic classifies issues and the associated target-resolution times.
Recently, Thrive Marketing Enterprise released enhancements to how links and buttons work in messages. After these updates, a few issues were brought to our attention. Most of these issues are being worked on by our Engineering team.
In the meantime, here is a list of those issues and the workarounds we have identified.
NOTE: This article highlights three issues. Currently, two of the three have been resolved, and these are indicated in their associated sections below.
Issue 1
- Buttons are too tall; they're not showing the bottom text on Outlook or text is too long for the button's length.
Workaround
- Select the WYSIWYG zone associated to the button.
- Click Edit.
- Click the Edit HTML Source button to edit the source code.
- In the grey and green style codes on the button, update the width values to a larger value (up to 350px wide). Make sure these values are the same in both width tags.
- Save the Code view and your button will update to the appropriate width for your text. You may need to adjust your width tags a few times to get it just right.
Issue 2 (resolved)
IMPORTANT: THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED.
- Cannot apply text styles to buttons; cannot make buttons bigger or cannot make buttons bold.
Workaround
- Create the button first by typing your text, selecting, and creating your hyperlink.
- Now that the button is created, select only the button’s text, and select any styling options you would like from the WYSIWYG bar, such as font size, bold, or italics.
- If the button is too small after adjusting the font size or style, use the workaround steps in the Issue 1 section above to adjust the width of the button.
- Save your message and send a test.
Issue 3 (resolved)
IMPORTANT: THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED.
- Cannot link to an email.
Workaround 1 - Use the Hyperlink tool and source code
-
- Create your link to the email address and click save to create the link.
- Click the Edit HTML Source button to view the source code.
-
- Find the <a href=…> tag in the code and your email text.
-
- Replace the white text inside of the <a> tag with your desired link name, leaving all other code and text the same.
-
- Save the source code and your WYSIWYG will update with the correct link text.
Workaround 2 - Use the WYSIWYG’s Source code to create the email link
Instead of using the Hyperlink tool, you can use the code snippet below to create email links in your messages directly via the source code.
-
- To do so, create a WYSIWYG zone or click into the existing WYSIWYG where you would like your link.
- Click the Edit HTML Source button to access the source code.
-
- Paste the code snippet below into the source code and update the placeholder values with the appropriate link information:
-
-
- Code Snippet: <a href="mailto:EMAILADDRESs" style="text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">LINK TEXT</a>
- EMAILADDRESS is a placeholder for an email address and LINK TEXT is the text that will display in the message body.
- Link Colors will not be applied using this method. To apply your link color, use the code snippet below: <a href="mailto:EMAILADDRESs" style="text-decoration: underline; color:#HEXCODE;" target="_blank">LINK TEXT</a>
-
