After you've designed a template that suits your organization, you can preview it and you can test it.
TIP: It's a good idea to preview and test the template before using it for a mailing.
Preview a template
- Open a mailing in the Mailing Designer.
- Navigate to Mailing Designer > Design tab.
- Click Preview to view a rendering of the template within the selected mailing.
The Mailing Preview window opens. You can:
- View HTML, Text, and Online versions of the mailing.
- Click Email HTML Version to send the HTML version to yourself.
Send Test
You can use the Send Test feature to make sure that your message sends and renders as expected.
This works similarly to the Email HTML Version option, but there are a few added features.
- Open a mailing in the Mailing Designer.
- Navigate to Mailing Designer > Test tab.
- Click Send Test to expand the section.
- In the Test Method section, you must:
- Choose an Email Format and
- Select an Email Test Type.
- In the Test Recipients section, you must choose whether to:
- Specify at least one (but no more than 15) email address or
- Select an established test group.
- In the Test Options section, you can:
- Specify any content that you want prepended to the message's subject line. (It's a good idea to indicate that it is a test mailing.)
- Add an email address that can receive test replies.
- Click Send.
Virtual Inbox Test
The Virtual Inbox Test is an invaluable tool for previewing your template's rendering because it will simulate how your mailing will look in a variety of email clients.
- Open a mailing in the Mailing Designer.
- Navigate to Mailing Designer > Test tab.
- Click Virtual Inbox Test to expand the screen and view the available options.
An information prompt about the Virtual Inbox Test is displayed.
- Click Run this test now to begin the test.
Note that the test will take 10 to 20 minutes to run. When it is complete, you can preview how your mailing appears in different browsers and email clients.
